Play Reading Series Presents – Two One Act Plays This Month! @ Black Box on Main
Oct 9 @ 7:00 pm

This month we will try something a little different – we are presenting two one-act plays

First we will present:

“Third and Oak – the Laundromat” by Marsha Norman

A probing, sensitive yet very funny study of two lonely women, one young, one not so young, who meet by chance in a late-night laundromat

DIRECTOR: Diane Senffner
CAST: Melissa Melo and Janis Webb

Then we will present:

A short piece about two old, old people sitting on a porch in a pair of rocking chairs and talking. Just talking—and of course they don’t know how funny they are. Each has had one or more previous marriages and perhaps a few flings, but they are hazy as to details. In fact, they don’t always know which one the other one is.

DIRECTOR: Janis Webb
CAST: J. Kevin Talent and Donna Kaufmann

This is a free event, though donations are gladly accepted (we have some costs due to rights and scripts, though the actors and directors donate their time).

Play Reading Series Presents – “The Woman in Black” by Susan Hill @ Black Box on Main
Nov 13 @ 7:00 pm

A lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There he caught sight of the woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies! The lawyer has invited some friends to watch as he and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night. A classic of the genre.

DIRECTOR: Virginia Olivieri
CAST: TBA

Dec 4 @ 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

scrooge-smallerScrooge in Rouge is set in a raggedy theatre in England where the 20-member cast of “A Christmas Carol” has fallen victim to food poisoning the night before their performance. But as we all know “the show must go on” so the three remaining cast members unaffected by illness work hard to deliver a stellar show . The actors master a variety of gender roles while tackling more than 20 characters. The result is truly hilarious!
